A Message from a Previous Miles of Trane Pick: Guitarist Matt Stevens

Hi milesoftrane@gmail.com

Hope you're good?

Its been a weird old week - there is an interview me in this months Acoustic magazine, a full page in a national magazine, weird seeing that in WH Smiths. I was really pleased - there is a scan of it here but buy the mag - my mum brought 3 copies :) - One of the reasons the magazine wrote about me was the amount of blogs and online "buzz" about my music - this is due to the people who read this newsletter so thank you very much.

I'm doing a few low key acoustic gigs to warm up for the Barclay James Harvest support - doing the very wonderful Peel next week and a few more in the next few weeks. Just 4 songs but enough for a quick warm up - I want to be confident again live. My mate Kev has briefed me on the essentials of the "Tight 30 minute set" rather than the rambling improvised stuff I normally do! If anyone fancies coming to the gig give us a shout and we'll have a beer.

This Sunday i will be playing a live streaming gig at Cafe Noodle focusing on Covers and Esoteric material. 5pm UK time (because I am off to see Adran Belew that evening, very exciting).

Also if you want a pay what you want copy of my B-Sides album Esoteric its being deleted at the end of October so grab it now :)

Thanks,

Matt

"Ghost is a phenomenal piece of work that has already garnered countless frothing plaudits within the online prog and post-rock firmament. Wholly instrumental and insanely inventive.. an internet phenomena in the making."  — Classic Rock Presents Prog
"(A)quirky, inventive, mostly upbeat, and entirely delightful instrumental album...While the music occupies its own creative zone, I found myself free associating names such as Brian Eno, John Martyn, Tom Verlaine, Anthony Phillips, Yo La Tengo, Steve Tibbetts, and even Radiohead while listening"  — Guitar Player Magazine (US)
"A solo album that I can only describe as magnificent. So inspired, anything thus guy touches is genius, from guitar to bass to... mellotron? Oh yes, you know you want this."  — Veins Dried Out
