Album Note -- Gorillaz = Plastic Beach

Plastic Beach reviews at Metacritic.com 81/100 ("Universal Acclaim")
Pitchfork: Album Reviews: Gorillaz: Plastic Beach 8.5/10 ("Best New Music" designation)

MILES OF TRANE RATING: YES. I'm late with the album note because I was going to try, for once, to write a meaningful review. But now I'm just going to put out my usual note that “it's good, it's real good.” Metacritic collects some 20 reviews, and Pitchfork provides their usual insights into the whys and wherefores, so there's not much noise I can add to what's already been said. But let me say this: whether you've fretted over how many dimensions Damon Albarn occupies, or whether the band is actual or animated, or even if you've thumbed your nose at the preposterous idea of the Guinness Book of World Records creating the category of Most Successful Virtual Band just to boast their hipness by proclaiming Gorillaz the record holder (presumably overtaking The Archies) – then stop the madness and get this album. It will be in my quarterly report as a buy recommendation with a view toward holding. Get your dividends now.
