Pink Floyd won their lawsuit to stop EMI from selling individual song downloads from the Dark Side of the Moon, to protect the concept of the concept album (ask someone over 40). On the NPR site you can vote in a poll for the greatest concept album of all time. My choice falls under "other." It was panned by critics (Rolling Stone called it "psychedelic doodling") and by all but the most devoted of Yes fans, but surely, even though you may not agree that the music is the greatest, it must be conceded the concept is as large as they come: Truth, Knowledge, Culture, and Freedom. I think it is fantastic and Tales from Topographic Oceans stands as one of my favorite albums of all time. Here it is for you to run from, embrace, or transcend, but I recommend buying it and listening a 1000 time a day for a 1000 years, and then you may begin to understand.
